We’re excited to let you know that on Thursday August 27th, Books of Wonder is inviting readers and movie lovers to join screenwriter-director Cornelia Duryée Moore (Madeleine L’Engle’s goddaughter) and co-producer Charlotte Jones Voiklis (Madeleine L’Engle’s granddaughter) for an informal chat as they talk, with some authority, about Madeleine L’Engle and illustrate their discussion with a screening of clips from CAMILLA DICKINSON, engage in Q & A, and sign DVDs. Fifteen-year-old Camilla Dickinson (Adelaide Clemens) has led a sheltered life on the Upper East Side with her architect father (Cary Elwes) and beautiful, but fragile mother (Samantha Mathis).
But when her parents’ marriage begins to fall apart, Camilla finds herself caught in the middle. Her mother doesn’t want her to grow up and treats her like a child, while her father is cold and forbidding. Camilla’s friendship with Luisa (Colby Minifie) offers some escape from her stifling parents, but Luisa has problems with her own parents, both of whom are alcoholic. When Camilla meets Luisa’s older brother Frank (Gregg Sulkin), an unlikely friendship is formed, and she finds herself increasingly drawn to him. Rebellious, perhaps even a bit dangerous, and different from anyone she has ever known, Frank introduces Camilla to a world outside her sheltered apartment walls.
As their relationship deepens, Camilla and Frank realize that their parents can’t help them grow up, so they must help each other. Together they discover that the future is in their own hands.
The film also stars Margaret Colin, Robert Picardo, Camryn Manheim, and Salvator Xuereb.

Charlotte Jones Voiklis is Madeleine L’Engle’s granddaughter and executor of her estate. She is a lead producer of the musical adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time. She is also the co-author with Jennifer Adams of A Book, Too, Can Be a Star (October 2022), a picture book biography illustrated by Adelina Lirius; and, with her sister, Léna Roy, of Becoming Madeleine (2018), a biography for middle grade readers.
She wrote the afterword to the 50th Anniversary edition of A Wrinkle in Time, and the introduction to The Moment of Tenderness (2020), a collection of short stories. Charlotte has also written and spoken extensively about her grandmother’s work to a variety of audiences.
With a PhD in Comparative Literature, Charlotte’s professional experience spans teaching, fundraising, communications, and grant making. She has also volunteered as a mediator in the New York City court system, and coached police officers on mediation skills. Charlotte lives in New York and Connecticut with her husband and has two grown children.
